Toronto-based visual artist Diana Nadia Lawryshyn has received $16,947 from the REACH Mentorship/Residency for the Arts program, a project of the Shevchenko Foundation in partnership with the Ihnatowycz Family Foundation. The award will support her nine-month self-guided residency, Byzantine-Ukrainian Iconography and Photomanipulation: Preservation of Historical Painting Techniques Through a Contemporary Lens. Through this residency, she will combine historical research, traditional iconography, and digital techniques to explore how Ukrainian visual heritage can be preserved and reinterpreted within contemporary artistic practice.
